Video: The Marketing Funnel’s Secret Weapon

video-the-marketing-funnels-secret-weaponThere is one big problem with a lot of online marketing funnels. Quite simply, they're dull, which translates to low quality and low engagement…

That is to say, that most of the offers we see as consumers just don't resonate: Have you ever seen a headline like ‘make money from home’ or ‘get into great shape quickly and easily?’ These headlines look and feel like spam. They lack specificity and typically suffer from substandard wring and confusing (or incomplete) offers.

Bad Funnel Content Undermines Sales

This is bad for marketing for one key reason – it makes us wonder why this seller – who is presumably running a successful business – can’t afford to present their offer better. This then undermines any good work that the marketer might have done with regards to the product itself, the sales pitch, or even the pricing.

But, there's an easy fix, that is more forgiving than bad copywriting, and more engaging too…

Behold The Power of Video

Videos are fantastic for engagement and they can also have an amazing impact on your prospects by making your brand seem more professional and higher quality than a standard text-based sales page. As soon as a video starts playing, most of us will instantly be engaged and find it hard to stop watching. Videos have a way of grabbing our attention and emoting that text and images alone just can’t match.

This is especially true if your video has a professional sheen and production values. If your video looks like it was made by a professional team (which is easily and affordably done these days), then this will inspire instant trust and the assumption will be that your product also has a similar level of detail and effort applied.

How to Create High Quality Video

So how do you make a high quality video that will reflect well on your organization, service, or product?

The first tip is to use a high quality camera. But more important than that even is to make sure that you have good lighting. Good lighting can brighten up video footage and make it look a lot more professional. And if you don't want to be on camera, you can easily create screencasts of PowerPoint slides and use simple animation and voiceover.

You also need to make sure your audio quality is solid – it only takes a lapel mic plugged into a smartphone or a USB mic for your computer to create some excellent quality audio for your videos these days. Try to speak slowly and clearly.

And, no matter if you're on camera or not, make sure things look clean and tidy in your video.

Finally, add a video opener, a logo and some lower thirds, and you’ll have a video that looks like it’s fresh out of Hollywood. Maybe…

Video Example

Videos don't need to be complicated to create. In fact, I recently created a case study video using only Keynote (the Apple presentation software) to demonstrate the power of marketing funnels. Video is an increasingly important part of any marketing funnel, the sequenced process of getting people from their initial point of contact with you to the moment they become a customer. And creating the perfect funnel formula is an important part of marketing in all types of online business. Want to discover a complete formula formula for yourself? Check out our case study video on how to automate your marketing funnel to get more leads and make more sales like clockwork.
